Pat Connaughton Heads To The Portsmouth Invitational

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame captain Pat Connaughton is set to don a basketball uniform again as he heads to Portsmouth, Virginia to play in the 63rd annual Portsmouth Invitational. This year’s event will take place at Churchland High School from Wednesday-Saturday, April 8-11.

Connaughton is one of 64 participants in this year’s tournament. Eight eight-man rosters comprise the field with 12 games played over the course of four days. Connaughton is slated to play for Portsmouth Partnership. His squad opens up play on Thursday evening, April 9 at 9:00 pm against K&D Rounds Landscaping.

Joining Connaughton on the Portsmouth Partnership roster will be Stefan Nastic (Stanford), Michael Cobbins (Oklahoma State), Richaun Holmes (Bowling Green), Dustin Hogue (Iowa State), KT Harrell (Auburn), Julius Brown (Toledo) and Will Cummings (Temple). He also is one three ACC players in the tournament as Virginia forward Darion Atkins and North Carolina State guard Ralston Turner also will be in Portsmouth.

Since 1953, many of the best senior college basketball players from across the country have participated in this four-day tournament in front of representatives from every NBA team. Today, scouts from numerous international leagues have joined in on the annual April pilgrimage to Portsmouth.
