Notre Dame, Ind. – Notre Dame hockey fans and college hockey fans in general will want to have their television’s tuned to Versus cable network on Saturday, December 31 at 9:30 p.m. to watch “Onward To Victory – Notre Dame Hockey,” a one-hour feature that gives viewers a look at the Notre Dame hockey program including retrospectives from its early days to its current status as one of the top college hockey programs in the nation.
The show, produced by Emmy Award-winning NASCAR Media Group for Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish Digital Media, will follow the broadcast of Versus’ first college hockey game of the season featuring sixth-ranked Notre Dame and ninth-ranked Boston University live from Notre Dame’s brand-new Compton Family Ice Arena at 7:05 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. Versus will become the NBC Sports Network on January 2nd.
“Onward to Victory – Notre Dame Hockey,” gives a glimpse of how Notre Dame’s hockey program began and where it has come from during its 44-year history as a Division I program. The feature also follows the current team and its move from the old Joyce Center Rink to the new, state-of-the-art Compton Family Ice Arena and the “Dedication Game,” on Nov. 18 – a thrilling 3-2 overtime win against third-ranked Boston College.
Hockey fans will get a chance to follow the Irish behind the scenes as they prepare for the Boston College game from coaches’ meetings to pre-game preparations in the locker room to live action on the bench and the ice during the game.
“It’s a great honor for Irish hockey to be recognized by VERSUS/NBC Sports in it’s first college hockey programming and we look forward to our future relationship with the network,” said Irish head coach Jeff Jackson.
“Onward to Victory” will be a real treat for those who follow the University of Notre Dame, Irish Hockey or college hockey in general. This show gives our fans an up-close and personal look at our program.”
Viewers will be able to see and hear the Notre Dame players and coaching staff about the events leading up to the mid-season move to their proud new home as they were wired for sound while cameras were imbedded with the team on the bench, in the locker room and in team meetings.
