NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Pittsburgh will play host to the Notre Dame men’s swimming and diving team on Friday (Oct. 28) at Trees Pool, site of the 2012 BIG EAST Conference Championships. The dual meet is slated for 4:00 p.m. (ET) with live results available at UND.com.
“This first road trip of the season will be a big one for us,” Irish head coach Tim Welsh said. “Competing against Pittsburgh always brings out the best competitive spirits in both teams. It’s college swimming at its best.”
Notre Dame won 11 of 14 individual events to defeat league rival Pittsburgh, 184-116, when the two teams met in 2010. Bill Bass posted individual wins in the 200 free and 100 fly at that meet.
Dating back to 2009, Notre Dame has won 19 of 24 individual swimming events during dual meet action versus Pittsburgh.
The Irish are 8-7 all-time against Pittsburgh (7-3 under Welsh) while winning each of the last seven matchups with the Panthers.
