May 12, 2015 A new website showcasing feature stories and many accompanying videos from Strong of Heart, the University of Notre Dame athletics department’s annual publication of 20 compelling profiles of individuals connected to Irish athletics, will launch Wednesday (May 13) on UND.com.
Current Notre Dame women’s lacrosse player Katherine McManus will be featured in the first piece. Tara Hunt authored the story that also includes an accompanying video piece.
Another story from the 2014 edition published in December will be released each Wednesday through Sept. 23 to cover a 20-week period. Those profiles include pieces on Molly and Kevin Anderson, Tricia Bellia, Dr. Angelo Capozzi, Grassroot Soccer and Bobby Clark, Matt Dooley and Olivia Kacsits, Pat Eilers and Kyle McCarthy, Gary Grassey, Zach Hillesland and the 2014 Fighting Alumni team, Kevin Kuwik, John Lattner, Jack Lloyd, David Lucia, Joe Mendelson, Mark Monahan, Dick Nussbaum, Ruth Riley, Joe Schmidt, Molly Shawhan and Justin Tuck.
In addition to the McManus piece, the next three offerings–on Bellia, Dooley and Kacsits, as well as Clark and Grassroot Soccer–also will include video pieces. Several other pieces later in the summer and early fall also are expected to feature accompanying video treatments.
The initial launch of the website also will include five archival pieces from the 2013 edition of Strong of Heart–features on Rev. Theodore M. Hesburgh, C.S.C., Jim Gibbons, Mike Anello, Frank Allocco and Mike Brey.
The site archives by the end of the summer will include every feature from all prior editions of Strong of Heart, which has been published each December beginning in 2010.
