Notre Dame Softball Starts Fall Season This Weekend

NOTRE DAME, IND.- The Notre Dame softball program will open the 2006 Fall Softball Season starting at noon against Loyola-Chicago on Sunday, Oct. 1 at Ivy Field.

The Notre Dame softball team will also host the Worth Fall Classic from Oct. 13-15. The tournament will bring four teams to campus as the Irish welcome in Michigan, Nebraska, Illinois-Chicago and Western Michigan. That tournament consists of an 11-game five-team tournament with promotions, giveaways and a fun family atmosphere for all. The tournament will kick off on Friday, Oct. 13 with a night match-up between the Fighting Irish and the Wolverines at 7 p.m. The Irish will play three more games over the weekend. Notre Dame plays a pair of games on Saturday, Oct. 14 taking on Nebraska at 9 a.m. and Western Michigan at 4:30 p.m. The softball team wraps up the weekend with a game against UIC at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15. The softball team is coming off a season where it went 42-21 (17-5 BIG EAST) and won the BIG EAST Conference Championship for the third time and made an NCAA Regional appearance for the eighth consecutive season.
