NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The University of Notre Dame baseball team returns to Frank Eck Stadium for its Atlantic Coast Conference home opener against Wake Forest. The Irish (8-11) and Demon Deacons (10-11) will open the weekend series at 5:05 p.m. ET on Friday.

Series History: Wake Forest
Notre Dame trails the all-time series against Wake Forest, 13-5. The Irish are 3-6 against the Demon Deacons at Frank Eck Stadium.
In the teams’ last matchup, the Irish were swept in a three-game series in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in 2017.
Senior CLASS Award
Senior Jake Johnson was named a Senior CLASS Award Candidate on Wednesday for excellence on and off the field.
Johnson, who is batting .279 with a home run and seven RBI, has engaged in numerous community service opportunities. The Irish senior has volunteered at Perley Elementary, played bingo at a local nursing home, hosted the pediatric Christmas party and volunteered at the team’s annual Haunted Eck event.
Johnson is one of 30 candidates up for the award. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
- Notre Dame is 2-4 in ACC play this season.
- Matt Vierling has hit .378 (17-45) with one double and three home runs in the month of March.
- Daniel Jung is one hit away from 50 for his career, and Nick Podkul is one RBI away from 50.
Megan Golden, athletics communications assistant director at the University of Notre Dame, has been part of the Fighting Irish athletics communications team since August of 2016. In her role, she coordinates all media efforts for the Notre Dame baseball and women’s soccer programs. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Golden is a 2014 graduate of Saint Mary’s College and former Irish women’s basketball manager. Prior to arriving at Notre Dame, she worked in public relations with the Cleveland Indians and Chicago White Sox.
