Notre Dame Hosts Western Michigan On Friday

After playing a full slate of four matches in the opening weekend of play last week, the Notre Dame men’s tennis team returns home for one contest. The lone competition will take place Friday, January 20th as the Irish host the 4-time defending MAC champion Western Michigan Broncos.

Notre Dame comes in with a 3-1 overall record after last weekend with wins over DePaul, IUPUI and Chicago State. Western Michigan  enters the contest with a  2-0 record after putting up two shutout victories over Butler and UIC in a double header last Saturday.

Last February, the two teams faced off in South Bend in a match the Irish would sweep 7-0. Notre Dame returns 5 players who appeared in that match while Western Michigan returns their entire starting lineup. In 2021, the Broncos would go a stellar 22-2 overall but both losses would come at the hands of the Irish, one in the regular season and one in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Home matches are played at the Eck Tennis Pavilion on campus and are FREE for all to attend. Parking can be found out front of the facility and overflow parking is in the South Joyce or Bulla lots.
