Camp Brochure

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame head baseball coach Dave Schrage has announced the dates for the 2009 Irish Winter Baseball Camps, which will feature two separate sessions for aspiring baseball players (Jan. 17-18 and Jan. 24).

The High School Skills Camp will take place on Jan. 17-18 (Sat.-Sun.). This camp is open to all players who are freshmen, sophomores, juniors or seniors in high school. The two-day camp will cover multiple aspects of the game, including: pitching, hitting, catching, fielding and base running. This camp serves as an opportunity for aspiring collegiate players to be recruited and evaluated by the Notre Dame staff and other collegiate coaches.

The Irish coaching staff also is introducing a new Father/Son Camp, to be held on Saturday, Jan. 24. This interactive camp is open to all youth players’ grades 1-8 and will focus on development through drills and fundamentals. Campers and their parents will be able to participate in the drills and instruction while working with the Irish players and staff during a Notre Dame baseball practice. The current Irish players also will be available for pictures and autographs.

Coach Schrage and the members of his coaching staff – Scott Lawler, Sherard Clinkscales and Graham Sikes – will join a variety of other high school and college coaches who will be on hand to provide quality baseball instruction for each of the three winter camps.

All campers will receive a Notre Dame baseball t-shirt to wear during camp.

Additionally, Notre Dame will be holding a one-day hitting clinic on Sunday, December 7. This clinic will be an in-depth look at the foundations of hitting through lecture, drills and video analysis.

Interested campers and parents are invited to download a camp brochure (via the PDF link included above) or contact coach Sikes for additional information (574-631-6366; e-mail, gsikes@nd.edu).
