NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame’s official athletics Web site (www.UND.com) ranked second among the 268 member affiliates of the CBS College Sports Online family during the 2007-08 academic year, it was announced recently by CBS College Sports Online (formerly known as CSTV Online). The Irish web portal was No. 2 nationally in terms of unique visitors (5,594,678) and total page impressions (34,756,004), trailing only North Carolina in both categories.

USC, Oklahoma and UCLA rounded out the national top five in the unique visitors category. Meanwhile, Oklahoma, USC and Penn State ranked third through fifth for total page impressions (pages viewed) from July 2007-June 2008.

Notre Dame’s athletics Web site underwent a significant change prior to last year, with its free broadband multimedia channel (Fighting Irish All-Access) breaking new ground in the field of on-line sports coverage. Headed by the staff of Notre Dame Sports Properties, UND.com produced more live programming than any other college or university web site in the country during the ’07-08 season, offering 107 live athletic events (an average of three per week during the school year, not including press conferences), as well as on-demand video programming. The site also delivered 86 live events in 16 of Notre Dame’s highly-regarded Olympic sports programs during the year (the vast majority shown exclusively on UND.com), with better than 54,000 viewers tuning in for these live broadcasts.

In addition to its multimedia offerings, the Notre Dame athletics Web site remains the country’s most comprehensive source for news and information about Fighting Irish sports. UND.com features press releases, media guide information, team rosters and biographical data, schedules, statistics and other printed material, as well as a growing archive that gives visitors the opportunity to dig deep into the rich history and tradition of Notre Dame athletics.
