NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The No. 9 Notre Dame women’s tennis team will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Vanderbilt to take on the No. 16 Commodores. The first serve is set for noon (CT) at the Brownlee O. Currey Jr. Tennis Center in Nashville, Tenn.

The Irish head into the competition after an easy win over Louisville last Sunday. Notre Dame defeated the Cardinals 6-1 to start off the season 1-0 in dual-matches. Vanderbilt holds a 3-0 record going into its weekend competitions. They will meet up with Michigan on Friday, prior to their competition against the Irish.

Cosmina Ciobanu leads the Irish as the No. 62 ranked individual in the nation. Teammate Brook Buck is right behind Ciobanu in the No. 64 spot. Three other Notre Dame athletes round out the top-100 in the nation with Katie Potts (82), Colleen Rielley (88) and Kali Krisik (89). The duo of Buck and Kelcy Tefft remain the third-ranked doubles squad in the nation heading into the weekend.

Vanderbilt also comes into the competition with top athletes. Courtney Ulery is the No. 13 athlete nationally in singles action with two other teammates in the top-100. The Commodores have no duos ranked in doubles action.

This will be the ninth time the two schools meet in dual-match competition. Vanderbilt currently holds an edge on the Irish, leading the series 2-6. The last meeting was last season where head coach Jay Louderback guided Notre Dame to a 4-3 victory over the Commodores.
