NOTRE DAME, Ind. – After having more than a week break, the 28th-ranked University of Notre Dame men’s tennis team travels to Columbus, Ohio to battle No. 3 Ohio State Wednesday, at 4:00 p.m. (ET) in the final non-conference match this season at the Stickney Tennis Center.
SCOUTING THE IRISH
– Notre Dame is currently 15-8 on the season – the Irish most recently defeated Ball State, 6-1 (April 2) and (then) No. 64 Southern Methodist, 6-1 and IUPUI, 7-0 in a doubleheader on April 3 – Notre Dame has won seven of its last eight matches – the Irish remain at No. 28 in the Campbell/ITA Tennis Rankings – Junior Casey Watt (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) is ranked No. 54 in the singles rankings and Daniel Stahl (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) is No. 99 – Stahl is on a seven-match winning streak – the senior carries a 14-6 dual season record.
SCOUTING THE BUCKEYES
– Kentucky currently carries a 22-2 record heading into the match against Notre Dame – the Buckeyes are No. 2 in the Campbell/ITA Tennis Rankings – the Buckeyes have seven student-athletes in the ITA/Campbell singles rankings – among them, No. 5 Blaz Rola, No. 12 Chase Buchanan, No. 43 Matt Allare, No. 65 Devin McCarthy, No. 67 Peter Kobelt, No. 102 Balazs Novak and No. 112 Ille Van Engelen – in the doubles rankings, No. 11 Buchanan/Rola, No. 12 Allare/Kobelt and No. 66 Buchanan/Shuhei Uzawa – most recently, the Buckeyes picked up their 22nd win this season after defeating (then) No. 60 Michigan State, 7-0 and No. 23 Michigan, 6-1.
