Feb. 6, 2009

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The 25th-ranked Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving team will travel to Michigan for a 3:00 p.m. (ET) showdown with the Wolverines at Canham Natatorium. It will be the final meet of the regular season for both Notre Dame (6-2) and Michigan (3-6). Michigan leads the overall series, 6-4.

Notre Dame picked up three dual meet wins Saturday while wrapping up the Shamrock Invitational at Rolfs Aquatic Center on Jan. 24. Victories over Michigan State (259.5-106.5), Denver (233-131) and West Virginia (265.5-97.5) gave the team a boost heading into the final stretch of the season. Notre Dame is geared to win its 13th consecutive BIG EAST Conference team title at the league meet held in Indianapolis from Feb. 18-21.

The Irish are led by sophomore Samantha Maxwell, who has posted a pair of NCAA B-cut performances in the breaststroke events. Heidi Grossman and Natalie Stitt have earned zone diving qualifying marks in both the 1- and 3-meteer events.
