The Irish relays continued their sensational season by setting two Notre Dame records. The first record came in the first race of the day, the 200 freestyle relay. The quartet of Katie Smith, Catherine Mulquin, Abbie Dolan and Sofia Revilak broke their own record in the relay at 1:28.93. They set the previous record just two weeks ago at the ACC Championships (1:29.47). The group narrowly missed the evening’s finals by one place coming in 17th in the race.
The next record to fall came in the 400 medley relay. The foursome of Catherine Mulquin, Meaghan O’Donnell, Erin Sheehan and Abbie Dolan came in at 3:33.38 besting the time of 3:33.93 set in 2014.

The Irish relays will be back at it tomorrow morning in the 200 medley relay.

Senior Catherine Mulquin swam in an individual event at the NCAA Championships for the first time in her career. Her time of 22.52 was good for 40th and is the fourth-fastest time in school history.

On the Board

Freshman Claire Andrews finished 45th in 1-meter (237.70) in the morning prelims.

COACH LITZINGER’S THOUGHTS

“Our women had about as good a morning as we could have asked from them. Two Notre Dame records and we are competing at a high level. While missing the finals by one place stung a bit, it has also added fuel to the rest of our efforts. Catherine Mulquin continues to set a great standard. Tomorrow we have some great events and another relay and we will be ready.”

LOOKING AHEAD TO TOMORROW
Tomorrow and Saturday’s morning session will be streamed live on NCAA.com and indianasportscorp.org/ncaasd. ESPN3.com will stream the finals sessions live on Friday and Saturday. Additionally, ESPNU will air a two-hour broadcast via tape delay at 7 p.m. ET, Tuesday, March 28.
