CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team fell in its second match of Atlantic Coast Conference competition earlier today. The Irish went up against the higher-ranked University of Miami team but lost, 6-1.

Before heading down to Florida, head coach Jay Louderback remarked that the match would be a good opportunity for the team to get some practice playing outdoors, which they had not yet done this season.

“We did a good job adjusting to playing outdoors,” Louderback said. “We just need to get more consistent in all phases.”

Notre Dame lost all three doubles matches to the Hurricanes before moving on to singles. The lone Irish victory came from freshman Monica Robinson, who defeated Lina Lileikite, 6-2, 6-4.

Notre Dame will not be slowing down in its competition over the next few weeks, as they will next play Duke on the road before taking on Clemson at home. As Louderback said earlier this weekend, every opponent that the Irish will face in the ACC will be a tough one.

Action against Duke will start at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28.
