MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The No. 22 University of Notre Dame men’s tennis team advanced to the semifinals of the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic Friday afternoon as the Irish swept Troy, 4-0, at Lagoon Park in Montgomery, Ala.

The Irish opened up the match by claiming the doubles point with wins at one and three. The duo of Greg Andrews and Spencer Talmadge took down Sami Ghorbel and Mansingh Athare, 8-4, at one while the team of Ryan Bandy and Matt Dooley blew past Andre Stabile and Tommy Cundy, 8-3, at three.

In singles the Irish wrapped up the match with straight-set victories at one, two and five singles. No. 96 Andrews cruised past Anas Rouchdi at one, 6-2, 6-1. Quentin Monaghan had similar luck at two singles as the freshman defeated Athare, 6-2, 6-0. Senior Michael Moore locked up the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Tadju Davies at five.

Action at two doubles and three, four and six singles were halted with the doubles point and ultimately the match already decided.

Notre Dame returns to action at the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic Saturday as it meets Boise State at 2:30 p.m. (ET) in the semifinals.
