Notre Dame women's swimming and diving team to open dual meet season on Nov. 3

No. 20 Women's Swimming and Diving To Host First Dual Meet Of The Season Against No. 25 Purdue

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The No. 20 University of Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving team will open the dual meet season this weekend against No. 25 Purdue University on Friday, Nov. 3 at 5 p.m. in the Rolfs Aquatic Center. The ranking for both teams are according to the first College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) dual meet rankings.

The Irish began this year’s campaign with a 91-point victory at the Dennis Stark Relays on Oct. 6. The Irish dominated the field by winning 12 of the 13 scored events.

The Irish were defeated last season by Purdue, 172-128, on Oct. 29, 2005.

Last year’s Purdue meet was highlighted by three individual event victories by senior Katie Carroll (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy). She won the 100 butterfly, 200 butterfly and the 200 IM against the Boilermakers.

Other event winners against Purdue last season include sophomore Claire Hutchinson (Baltimore, Md./McDonough School) (1,000 freestyle), junior Caroline Johnson (Springfield, Mo./Glendale) (100 backstroke), senior Ann Barton (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain) (200 backstroke) and senior Jessica Stephens (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) (200 breaststroke).

The Irish will continue the home stand with a meet on Friday, Nov. 10 against Michigan State at 4:30 p.m.
