KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The 13th-ranked Notre Dame women’s tennis team dropped four singles matches, including three in straight set, and won just one doubles match as 12th-ranked Tennessee beat the visiting Irish 6-3 on Saturday. Notre Dame falls to 11-6 with the loss and travels to 18th-ranked Kentucky on Sunday for an 11:00 a.m. match. Tennessee improves to 13-3.

Irish sophomore and eighth-ranked Michelle Dasso and senior Marisa Velasco won the only singles matches for Notre Dame. Dasso beat 89th-ranked Agnes Wiski 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. Velasco won 6-4, 6-3 over Dana Noel at No. 3 singles. The Lady Vols used wins at Nos. 2, 4, 5 and 6 to take a 4-2 lead into doubles.

Tennessee then won at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles to clinch the win. Notre Dame’s eighth-ranked team of Dasso and Jennifer Hall beat Noel and Wiski 9-7 at No. 1 doubles.
