Irish Sweep Doubles On Day Two

NOTRE DAME, Indiana — A sweep of doubles action highlighted day two of the Notre Dame Invitational on Saturday at the Eck Tennis Pavilion.

Doubles Action

Cameron Corse and Bess Waldram secured a win 6-4 win over Ohio State’s Emma DeCoste and Andra Ballinger, while Zoe Spence and Brooke Broda were also 6-4 winners against DePaul’s Keisha Clousing and Marija Jovicic. Maeve Koscielski and Ally Bojczuk won a 7-5 decision over a tandem of Camila Vargas (DePaul) and Maddie Yergler (Minnesota).

Singles Action

Spence and Corse were straight-set victors for the Irish in singles action, while Broda, Koscielski and Taylor were also victorious. Corse defeated Tennessee’s Kylie Duckworth (6-1, 6-0) while Spence beat the Lady Vols’ Gabby Schuck (6-3, 6-4). Koscielski and Taylor won a three-set battles with Koscielski defeating Ohio State’s Ballinger (6-4, 4-6, 6-3) and Taylor winning over Minnesota’s Camila Vargas (6-3, 5-7, 6-1). Broda took the first set from DeCose (OSU), 6-2, before the Buckeye retired due injury.

Waldram and Bojczuk both dropped three-set heartbreakers to Lady Vols. Waldram fell to Tenika McGiffin (0-6, 6-4, 7-6 (8)), while Bojczuk was defeated by Johanna Silva (4-6, 6-2, 6-4).

Notre Dame Invitational
