IRISH TRAVEL TO DURHAM
Notre Dame travels to Durham to take on Duke on Wednesday (Nov. 21) at 2 p.m. The Irish enter the contest at 16-11 overall and 10-7 in ACC play while the Blue Devils own a 14-11 mark with an 8-8 record in conference matches. The contest is set to be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.
SERIES HISTORY VS. DUKE
Notre Dame and Duke will be meeting for the 16th time on Wednesday, with the Blue Devils holding a slim 8-7 advantage in the series. The two sides met inside Purcell Pavilion back on October 7, when a furious Irish comeback fell just short in a 3-2 loss. Charley Niego led the Irish with 15 kills in the contest while Ryann DeJarld added 22 digs.

Last Friday, Kelly Byrne, Ryann DeJarld, Meg Morningstar and Rebecca Nunge played in their final match at Purcell Pavilion and picked up a 3-2 win over Louisville.
A two-time ACC Academic Honor Roll recipient, Byrne has racked up 252 digs in 70 matches over the past four seasons. In 2017, DeJarld set the Notre Dame single-season record with 747 digs, and has collected the most digs in program history during her four-year career. She also became the first player in program history to be named to the ACC First-Team in 2017. Morningstar has played in 105 matches over her four years with the team, accounting for 378 kills and 404 blocks. Nunge has played in 120 matches in her four-year career, recording 862 kills, 363 blocks and 248 digs. Nunge and DeJarld have served as co-captains for the Irish this season.
BREAK OUT THE BROOMS
Eleven of Notre Dame’s 16 wins have come in straight-set fashion during the 2018 season. The Irish have recorded sweeps over Weber State, Toledo, Northern Kentucky, Oakland, Miami (OH), Chattanooga, UNC, Clemson, Virginia Tech, Syracuse and Miami.
FEATURED FRESHMEN
The freshman trio of Sydney Bent, Charley Niego and Zoe Nunez have made a big impact on the court for the Irish this season. Niego leads the team with 320 kills and is second to DeJarld with 297 digs. As the team’s primary setter, Nunez has racked up 1058 assists through 27 matches. Bent has also been a pivotal member of the Irish attack with 254 kills and 24 service aces. Bent (5) and Niego (12) have combined to notch 17 double-doubles in 2018.
