Murphy Tops The Conference Again

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – For the second straight week, University of Notre Dame sophomore forward Troy Murphy was named the BIG EAST Conference player-of-the-week on Monday after leading the Irish to a 3-0 week.

Murphy earns the award for the fourth time this season after averaging 23.3 points and 11.7 rebounds. He had two double-doubles last week, including a 31-point, 14-rebound performance in a 75-57 win over Loyola Marymount. The Morristown, N.J., native has 10 double-doubles this season and has led the Irish in scoring 12 times and has been or tied for game-high rebounding honors on 12 occasions.

In 42 career games, Murphy has scored in double figures in 41 of those contests and has posted double-doubles on 22 occasions.

The Irish return to action on Wednesday, January 5 when they travel to Hartford, Conn., to face defending national champion Connecticut at 7:30 p.m.
