Monogram Club members are reminded to mark their calendars for the club’s 2005 annual meeting events, scheduled for Thursday, June 2, prior to the start of the Notre Dame Alumni Association’s reunion weekend. As has been tradition, the day will begin with a fun-filled morning of golf at the Warren Golf Course to be followed by a Mass dedicated to the Monogram Club’s deceased members. The day then will conclude with the annual meeting and dinner, which includes presentation of the Monogram Club’s Moose Krause Award (recognizing distinguished service) and honorary monograms plus the introduction of the new members of the board of directors.

The annual June meeting events always provide plenty of enjoyment and memories for Monogram Club members and attendance continues to increase each year. One of the 2005 dinner highlights will be the presentation of the Moose Krause Distinguished Service Award to University of Notre Dame president, Rev. Edward “Monk” Malloy, C.S.C. – a 1963 Notre Dame graduate and former basketball monogram winner. Notre Dame’s president emeritus, Rev. Theodore Hesburgh, C.S.C., has graciously agreed to join the Monogram Club for the 2005 dinner and will assist in the presentation to Fr. Malloy.

Other dinner ceremonies will include Julie Pierson Doyle (volleyball ’85) being sworn in as the first female president in the Monogram Club’s history. The 2005 Monogram Club dinner attendees also will have the opportunity to hear from Notre Dame’s new head football coach, Charlie Weis.

All proceeds from various Monogram Club events – including the annual golf outing and dinner – go directly to support the Brennan-Boland-Riehle Scholarship Fund, which provides need-based scholarship aid at Notre Dame for sons and daughters of dues-paying Monogram Club members. In 2004-05, the Monogram Club awarded $322,150 in scholarship assistance to 45 children of Monogram Club members – making Notre Dame’s letterwinner organization one of the few in the nation to provide this type of family scholarship assistance for its members.

Monogram Club members who wish to participate in this fun-filled day of camaraderie and friendship are reminded that the deadline to submit 2005 reservation forms and payment is Monday, May 16.
