SOUTH BEND, Ind. — After a successful week at the NCAA Championships for the Irish women’s squad, the men’s team is set to head down to Atlanta for the 2022 Men’s NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.

The Irish men’s team is set to have three individual swimmers compete over the course of the week and four relay teams have also qualified. Senior Josh Bottelberghe, sophomore Tyler Christianson and freshman Chris Guiliano will be the individual swimmers as they will have a total of seven swims between five different events.

The trio will be joined by junior Cason Wilburn, sophomore Kaden Smesko, sophomore Stephan Lukashev and sophomore Luke Uttley, who will be swimming in the different relay events.

The first event for the Irish will be on Wednesday, March 23, when the 200 medley relay team hits the pool. They enter the event with a qualifying time of 1:23.81, which broke the school record at the 2022 ACC Championships.

On Thursday, Guiliano will take part in the 50 freestyle prelims that will be held in the morning session of events starting at 10 a.m. ET. Guiliano comes in with a qualifying time of 19.17, which also broke the school record at the ACC Championships. Later in the evening on Thursday, the 200 freestyle relay will compete in the evening session.

On Friday, Guiliano is back for the 200 freestyle prelims and he enters with a qualifying time of 1:35.95. Bottelberghe and Christianson will also be in the pool in the 100 breaststroke prelims in the morning session. Bottelberghe broke the school record with a time of 51.61 at the ACC Championships and Christianson comes into the event with a time of 54.24. In the evening on Friday, the 400 medley relay team is up next for the Irish as they also broke the school record with their qualifying time of 3:06.28.

On the final day of competition on Saturday, the trio of Irish individual swimmers are back for the 100 freestyle (Guiliano) and the 200 breaststroke (Bottelberghe & Christianson). Bottelberghe (1:52.44) and Guiliano (42.34) both enter their events with school record breaking qualifying times. The 400 freestyle relay team will be in action in the evening session, as the final relay team competing in the championships for the Irish.
