The ITA All American Championships is one of the three most prestigious events on the college tennis circuit. It includes 64 of the top players in all of men’s college tennis. Last season, Helgeson ascended to as high as No. 11 in the ITA rankings before closing out the season at No. 45. He also was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Performer on his way to earning the BIG EAST’s automatic bid into the singles draw of the NCAA Finals. Helgeson advanced out of the round-of-64 with a win over Harvard’s Chris Clayton (6-3, 6-1), before falling to No. 3 Oleksandr Nedovyesov of Oklahoma State in the round-of-32 (6-3, 6-2).

He played the majority of the season at No. 1 singles, where he posted a 14-9 mark. He also posted a combined dual and open season 12-7 record against opponents ranked in the ITA top-100.

While Helgeson is participating in the ITA All American Championships, his teammates will play host to 22nd annual Tom Fallon Invitational, named after the 31-year Irish head coach. The three-day event will begin on Friday, October 10 at Notre Dame’s Courtney Tennis Center. This year’s field includes Ball State, Harvard, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Western Michigan and Wisconsin.
