Complete Day One Results in PDF Format 
The Notre Dame men’s tennis team posted 16 wins on the first day of the Tom Fallon Invitational. The Irish were led by sophomores David Anderson (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich),Tyler Davis (Nashville, Tenn.) and Daniel Stahl (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman), as well as freshman Casey Watt (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland). Anderson, Davis, Stahl and Watt each had two wins in singles play to complement a doubles triumph.
Stahl defeated Sasha Ermakov of Harvard 6-2, 6-4 in their morning singles match. Davis, Watt and freshman Niall Fitzgerald (Wicklow, Ireland/Blackrock College) also won their singles matches versus Crimson opposition. Davis did so over Mike Hayes 6-2, 6-2. Watt notched a 6-3, 6-5 victory against Davis Mangham, while Fitzgerald came back to win a hard-fought match versus Mike Kalfayan 4-6, 6-4 (13-11).
Sean Tan (Lakewood, Calif./Lakewood) and David Anderson (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) also served up wins in the a.m. singles session for the Irish. Tan defeated Jon Wegener of Ball State 6-3, 6-0, while Anderson overcame Eduatrdo Pavia of Ball State 6-3, 6-0.
In the afternoon singles session, Davis notched his second win of the day over a Harvard player when he knocked-off Aba Omodele-Lucien 7-5, 1-6, 1-0 (10-6). Watt also recorded another win when he defeated Mike Kalfayan of Harvard 4-6, 6-0, 1-0 (10-6).
The rest of the Irish lineup faced opposition from Michigan State in their afternoon singles matches. Notre Dame notched five wins in their seven matches versus the Spartans, including wins by Stahl, Anderson, Havens, Fitzgerald and Johnson. Stahl’s second win of the day came at the expense of Ron Hulewicz 6-2, 6-1. Anderson’s win came over Scott Rasmussen, 6-4, 6-4. Havens then notched a 6-1, 6-1 win over Austin Brooks, while Fitzgerald got a win over Ty Sauerbrey 6-1, 5-3 (ret.). Johnson’s first win of the day was a 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Clark Richardson.
The first day of play at the Tom Fallon Invitational concluded with doubles action, in which the Irish added another three wins to their total. Anderson and Tan combined to beat Bussert and Smith of Ball State, 8-3. Havens and Watt defeated Perdomo and Rodriguez of Ball State, 8-6. Notre Dame’s final doubles win came from the duo of Davis and Stahl, who were victorious over Norville and Gardner of Michigan State.
The three-day event continues tomorrow, October 11, at Notre Dame’s Courtney Tennis Center. Singles action featuring all six participating teams will commence at 10:00 a.m., with doubles rounds slated for 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. starts.
