NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The University of Notre Dame’s men’s and women’s basketball teams are scoring well in 2000-01 — both on the court and in the classroom.

The Irish men’s and women’s squads both currently rank in the national polls (women second in both Associated Press and USA Today/ESPN, men 18th in both) — and they both recorded their highest-ever fall semester cumulative grade-point averages during the 2000 fall semester.

The men achieved a 3.027 semester average — while the women combined for a 3.118 mark. Each of the teams had three members make the Dean’s List (3.4 GPA or higher) — with Martin Ingelsby at 3.405, Chris Markwood at 3.4, Hans Rasmussen at 3.467, Jeneka Joyce at 3.438, Academic All-American Ruth Riley at 3.513 and Karen Swanson at 3.667.

The men’s squad also received strong efforts from Matt Carroll (3.178), David Graves (3.2), Ryan Humphrey (3.25) and Charles Thomas (3.256), while the women also saw Imani Dunbar (3.286), Ericka Haney (3.33), Monique Hernandez (3.334), Alicia Ratay (3.167) and Kelley Siemon (3.0) top the 3.0 mark.
