Match 18 Preview: #6 Pitt (ACC Semifinals)

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Irish remain on the road in the ACC Championships and face top-seeded Pitt in a rematch of last season’s semifinal round. The two sides are set to play at 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Nov. 10. The match will air on ACCN.

THE IRISH IN THE ACC TOURNEY

• Notre Dame has an overall ACC Tournament record of 11-6-3 and has reached at least the quarterfinal round in all nine seasons in the league.

• Notre Dame has reached the semifinal round or beyond in the ACC Championship in six of its nine seasons as a conference member.

BALANCED ATTACK

THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT

• The Irish have received significant contributions from the 2021 freshman class.

• Thirteen of Notre Dame’s 41 goals have been scored by freshmen.

• Matthew Roou ranks second on the team in goals scored with six while Eno Nto is tied for third on the squad with five goals to his name.

• Michael Rossi has scored two goals in his debut season.

• Josh Ramsey has played in all 18 games, including 17 starts for Notre Dame this season at the center back position.

• Nto and Roou both scored goals in their first career starts, coming in the 2-0 win over NIU.

• Kyle Genenbacher has also logged minutes in 16 matches this season.

2021 CAPTAINS

• Mohamed Omar and Philip Quinton will share the skipper role for the Fighting Irish for the 2021 season.

• Omar has been a staple as a central defensive midfielder over the past three seasons. His 2020-21 campaign was cut short due to an injury that sidelined him for almost all of the spring.

• Omar has racked up 62 appearances for the Irish over four seasons, scoring five goals and adding three assists in his career.

• Quinton has been a mainstay in Notre Dame’s defense four seasons at the center back position.

• The 6-foot-6 defender has anchored the Irish back line the last two seasons. Quinton has scored the first two goals in his Notre Dame career this season, coming against Virginia Tech and Purdue Fort Wayne.
