Notre Dame, Ind. – Notre Dame sophomore forward Luke Harangody (Schererville, Ind.) will miss three to six weeks with a torn ligament in his right thumb. He was injured in practice on October 15 and tests the following day revealed the ligament damage in his hand.
Harangody will be in a cast for the next several weeks. A timetable for his return has yet to be determined, but doctors and men’s basketball trainer Skip Meyer will evaluate the situation in three weeks.
Harangody earned BIG EAST all-rookie team honors last season and was Notre Dame’s fourth-leading scorer (11.2) and second-leading rebounder (6.2). He appeared in all 32 contests and made 16 starts in 2006-07 while helping the Irish to a 24-8 record (11-5 mark in BIG EAST play) and a first-round appearance in the NCAA tournament. Harangody also netted double figures in 22 games and registered seven double-doubles.
