NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Head Coach Jeff Jackson has announced the additions of Kevin Lind and Will Moran to the University of Notre Dame Hockey staff for the 2016-17 season.

Lind will be the team’s new volunteer assistant coach, while Moran joins the Irish as the new hockey and programming intern. The duo replace Brian Mahoney-Wilson, who is now the goaltending development coach with the Detroit Red Wings, and Mason Graddock, who is now the intern assistant coach for the U.S. National Under-17 Team.

Lind returns to Notre Dame hockey program, having previously patrolled the Irish blue line from 2010-14. During his undergraduate career at Notre Dame, Lind played in 151 career games, scored seven goals and added 22 assists. He was a co-recipient of Notre Dame’s William Donald Nyrop Award (awarded to the defensive player of the year) following his senior season. He helped lead Notre Dame to the 2013 CCHA Tournament Championship. He also was part of three NCAA Tournament appearances, including a run to the 2011 Frozen Four.

A four-time monogram winner for the Irish, Lind was selected in the sixth round (177th overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft by Anaheim. After graduation, Lind began his professional hockey career with Anaheim’s AHL affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals. Before returning to the Admirals later in the 2014-15 season, Lind played with the Utah Grizzlies (ECHL) for 60 games, tallying seven goals and five assists while contributing to a 37-27-0-8 season for the Grizzlies.

Moran spent the 2015-16 as the Director of Hockey Operations for the Holy Cross men’s hockey program. He served as the video coordinator and oversaw the in-game video breakdown for the Crusaders, who finished the 2015-16 season with an 18-13-5 overall record.

Moran graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2015 and earned a degree in finance. He was an undergraduate assistant for the UConn men’s hockey team. During his tenure with the Huskies, he gained experience by creating analytical player profiles and conducting statistical breakdowns and analyses of team and player stats.

The Fighting Irish open the 2016-17 regular season with a weekend home series against Arizona State on Oct. 7-8 at the Compton Family Ice Arena. To purchase tickets, visit UND.com/tickets.
