Lawler, Dangler, Sikes Remain On Irish Staff During Coaching Search

June 14, 2010

Scott Lawler, Dave Dangler and Graham Sikes will continue responsibility for Notre Dame baseball operations until a new coach is hired.

Lawler just completed his fourth year on the Notre Dame staff. He served as the program’s primary assistant coach and recruiting coordinator his first two years before a promotion to associate head coach in 2008. His coaching responsibilities included instructing the Irish hitters and infielders.

Dangler just concluded his first season as Notre Dame pitching coach. He is a veteran with 23 years of collegiate head coaching experience and another 12 years as a professional scout for the Montreal Expos, Florida Marlins and Baltimore Orioles.

Sikes has acted as the volunteer coach on the Irish staff during each of the past three seasons. His primary coaching duties have included the catcher and outfielder positions. Sikes has also overseen Notre Dame’s expansive baseball camp operation and help coordinate the program’s annual Opening Night Dinner.

Swarbrick announced earlier Monday that Dave Schrage would not be retained as head baseball coach at the University of Notre Dame after four seasons in that position.
