Lauren Ebo is Irish

6-4 post from Texas will add presence down low

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Karen & Kevin Keyes Family Notre Dame women’s basketball head coach Niele Ivey found another major post presence to replace Maya Dodson and her name is Lauren Ebo. The 6-4 center/forward out of Washington D.C. spent her first two seasons at Penn State before spending the last two at Texas.

Ebo not only brings a veteran presence down low, but also a plethora of postseason experience, having led the Longhorns to back-to-back Elite Eights over the past two seasons.

“I am pleased to announce Lauren Ebo will be joining our ND family,” Coach Ivey said. “She brings a wealth of experience with deep runs in the NCAA Tournament the past two years. She is a true leader on and off the court. She’s a force inside and is a perfect fit for our team and our culture.”

Statistically, Ebo’s final year in Austin was her best, posting season average highs in both points (8.0 ppg) and rebounds (6.7 rpg). She started in 30 of 35 games played, averaging 26.6 minutes. Ebo also posted her best shooting season, converting 48.1 percent from the floor.

Ebo was named an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention in addition to earning a spot on the Big 12 All-Tournament Team. Ebo ultimately recorded a total of 35 points and 18 rebounds during the conference tourney.

She posted four double-doubles on the year, which not only led the team, but also doubled her original career amount to eight. Ebo led the team in rebounding and posted 13 games in double figures.

Speaking of those 13 double-digit scoring games, six came in the final 10 games of the season, as Ebo finished strong down the stretch. The Washington D.C. native tallied back-to-back games of a season high 17 points (vs Oklahoma State and vs Kanas State, March 5-11).

Lastly, from a career respective, Ebo averages 6.1 points and 5.6 rebounds.
