Kyle McAlarney Named Preseason Candidate For 2008 Bob Cousy Point Guard Of The Year Award

Notre Dame, Ind. – Junior guard Kyle McAlarney (Staten Island. N.Y.) is among 40 preseason candidates for the 2008 Bob Cousy Award which is presented annually by The Basketball Hall of Fame The Harford and recognizes the top collegiate point guard participating in NCAA Division I, III and III.

The selection committee is comprised of college basketball experts including media members, former coaches and players and current head coaches. Candidates for the Bob Cousy Award distinguish themselves on and off the court and best represent the qualities of leadership, vision and teamwork.

McAlarney has played in 42 games throughout his collegiate career and made 22 starts. He made starts in all 12 games he played during the 2006-07 campaign and averaged 10.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists. McAlarney has been twice named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll and has scored in double figures in 10 contests.
