LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Freshman Jane Kronenberger of the University of Notre Dame softball team has been recognized as a 2022 Schutt Sports/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I Freshman of the Year Top 25.
Kronenberger has worked her way into the starting lineup and has been a key offensive piece to one of the top offenses in the nation. The freshman is hitting at a .400 clip on and is third on the team with 27 RBI, despite 40 less at bats. In a pinch-hitting role to start the season, Kronenberger went 3-for-10 off the bench and worked her way into the starting lineup.
In her first collegiate start, she went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and a double. She’s recorded seven multi-hit games in her 22 starts, scoring 12 runs. She’s hit nine doubles three home runs and has earned a .424 on-base percentage. She’s tied for third on the team with eight multi-RBI games and had a season-high seven game hitting streak.
