Krisik Advances To Finals At Wildcat Fall Invitational

EVANSTON, Ill. – Irish junior Kali Krisik won two singles matches in straight sets Saturday to advance to the Flight B finals of the Wildcat Fall Invitational, hosted by Northwestern.

Krisik defeated DePaul’s Katarina Milinkovic, 6-1, 7-5, in the quarterfinals, then knocked off Northwestern’s Keri Robison, 6-1, 6-4 in the semifinals to advance to the final match.

Freshman Shannon Mathews dropped her Flight A second-round match to No. 54 Ana Marija Zubori, of South Carolina, 5-7, 7-5, 2-6. She, then, defeated DePaul’s Anna Redesci, 6-2, 4-6, 6-0, in Flight A North/South action.

Senior Katie Potts lost her Flight B second-round match to Depaul’s Gia McKnight, 7-6, 3-6, 4-6. In Flight B North/South play, Northwestern’s Elena Chernyakova defeated Potts, 6-1, 6-2.

Krisik and Mathews fell in Flight A doubles, dropping their second-round match to South Carolina’s Gina Schofield and Miljana Jocic, 6-8.

Potts teamed up with Illinois’ Christine Stromburg to defeat Oklahoma’s Brittany Baldy and Kristin Gray, 8-5, in Flight B’s second round.

The Irish will wrap up play at the Wildcat Fall Invitational Sunday.
