NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Josh Berlo, director of athletic tickets operations at the University of Notre Dame the past two years, has been named an assistant athletics director.

A Warren, R.I., native, Berlo has been part of the Notre Dame ticket operation since 2000. In his current role, he oversees the entire day-to-day administration of the ticket office, which handles all athletic as well as other Joyce Center events.

Among technical and logistical improvements that Berlo has brought to the ticketing operation include the introduction of on-line ticket purchasing (via www.und.com), ticket lottery results available on-line, as well as improvements to the overall lottery system.

“It’s obvious that ticketing is an absolutely crucial part of our operation, given the interest in Notre Dame athletics,” says Notre Dame athletics director Kevin White.

“Josh and his staff have the challenge of working day to day with an unending list of valuable customers – and he has more than proven his ability to flourish within that assignment, in addition to bringing about some major improvements in the way in which we handle the business end of the ticketing process.”

Berlo came to Notre Dame in 2000 as an athletic department intern, and was accepted into the Mendoza Graduate College in 2001 in pursuit of a master’s degree in business administration. He was granted the NBC MBA Fellowship and also won the Arthur W. Page Society Grand Prize for its corporate communications case-writing contest. Berlo received his MBA with a concentration in finance and communications in 2004.

In 2002 he was hired as a manager in the Notre Dame ticket office and in 2003 he was promoted to director of ticketing.

Berlo also oversees the athletics department car dealer program – and he serves as one of the Notre Dame representatives on the executive committee of the Sports Management Institute.

Prior to his arrival at Notre Dame, Berlo caddied and worked for the pro shop at Rhode Island Country Club from 1992-99. A 1996 graduate of Moses Brown School in Providence, R.I., he earned the Rhode Island Golf Association’s John P. Burke Memorial Scholarship and attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He received his bachelor’s degree in sport management with a minor in economics.

He and his wife, Meg, reside in Mishawaka, Ind.
