March 9, 2015

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Less than 24 hours after earning first team all-ACC accolades, University of Notre Dame scoring stalwart Jerian Grant has been named one of five finalists for the inaugural 2015 Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Award, presented by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Named after Hall of Famer and 1959 NCAA Final Four Most Valuable Player Jerry West, the award recognizes the top shooting guard in Division I men’s college basketball. Initially, Grant was one of 16 candidates for the award before a national committee narrowed the list to the five finalists. In addition to Grant, the four other finalists include Tyler Haws (Brigham Young), D’Angelo Russell (Ohio State), Buddy Hield (Oklahoma) and Ron Baker (Wichita State).

The winner will be determined by a combination of fan votes and input from the Hall of Fame’s selection committee that will include West. Irish fans are encouraged to visit www.HoophallAwards.com to cast their votes March 9-18. The winner will be presented with the award at ESPN’s new College Basketball Awards show presented by Wendy’s from Club Nokia in Los Angeles, California on Friday, April 10, 2015. The Awards will be televised live on ESPN2.
