NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame men’s basketball sophomore guard J.R. Konieczny will have a great opportunity to garner some valuable offseason experience while also repping the Red, White and Blue. USA East Coast Basketball added Konieczny to its Barcelona roster as they head overseas in August for the 30th Anniversary of the Dream Team event.
Alex Jensen, of the NBA’S Utah Jazz, will headline the coaching staff leading some of the top collegiate players from around the country. The USA team heading to Barcelona will be well balanced with players from the ACC, Big Ten, Big East, Pac-12, American Conference, and more.
Following a media session and photoshoot in New York City, the team will hold a two-day Training Camp at Columbia University August 1st and 2nd before departing for Barcelona. The team will experience many activities and educational events pertaining to the 1992 Olympic Basketball Tournament. USA will train for two additional days before playing three consecutive games against top players from Spain’s Liga ACB. Spain’s Liga ACB is considered second only to the NBA for the best basketball talent in the world.
