Isola, Gillilan Earn ACC Weekly Honors

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — For the third consecutive week, Notre Dame performers have received ACC weekly honors. Freshman Coleen Gillilan has been named ACC Swimmer of the Week after her record-breaking performance in the Shamrock Invitational, and senior Erin Isola has been named ACC Diver of the Week for her showing on senior weekend.

In the Shamrock Invitational, the No. 16/12 Irish notched big wins for both the men and the women. Isola and Gillilan helped the No. 12 Notre Dame women mark down 1114.5 points, besting No. 7 Ohio State (975), Akron (768) and RV Iowa (629.5).

Isola was the highest-performing Irish diver during the Shamrock Invitational. She placed first in the women’s 3-meter event, scoring a 301.95. In the 1-meter event, she tallied a score of 294.05, good for third place. This marks Isola’s first Diver of the Week distinction this season.

Gillilan helped set three pool records at the Shamrock Invitational, including one that served as a new Notre Dame record. In the 200 IM, she touched the wall in 1:56.84 and joined Carly Quast, Cailey Grunhard and Abbie Dolan in setting a pool record in the women’s 400 Medley Relay (3:34.94). Finally, she set a program record in the women’s 100 Fly (52.13).

Overall, Gillilan won eight of her nine events, placing first and posting B-Cut times in each of her four individual races.

The honors for Isola and Gillilan mark the ninth and 10th time Irish performers have been tabbed with ACC weekly honors this season. Gillilan is the only Notre Dame performer to have received the honor three times this season. Just one other women’s swimmer in the ACC has won the honor three times this season besides Gillilan (Kate Douglass, Virginia).

The Irish will be back at home Saturday to host Ball State, Indiana State and Michigan State at noon. Follow along with @NDSwimDive and at und.com/swimmingstats for updates.
