NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame men’s tennis junior Alex Lebedev fell in the Round of 16 Saturday at the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men’s All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma, while the rest of the Irish posted a winning mark on Day Two of the Bobby Bayliss Invitational at the Courtney Tennis Center and Eck Tennis Pavilion.

All-American Championships

Lebedev’s run came to an end Saturday against NC State’s Alexis Galarneau. The Irish junior faced his first Atlantic Coast Conference opponent of the tournament, but Galarneau prevailed in a 6-3, 6-3 decision.

Lebedev became the first Irish player to reach the Round of 16 at the All-American Championships since Brett Helgeson did so in 2009.

Bobby Bayliss Invitational

The Irish put on another strong day of competition at the Bobby Bayliss Invitational, which split time between indoor and outdoor courts on Saturday. In two rounds of singles, Notre Dame players combined for a 12-8 record, with sophomores Matt Gamble and Conor Somers and freshman William Howells all earning 2-0 marks on the day. Junior Grayson Broadus and senior Drew Dawson were 1-0 on the day.

Play will conclude Sunday with one round each of singles and doubles. The doubles round is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m. ET, followed by singles.
