Irish Win Third Straight With 5-2 Victory Over Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team won its third straight match Sunday and remained undefeated on the road in a 5-2 victory over Atlantic Coast Conference foe Louisville at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

How It Happened

Louisville (8-2, 0-1 ACC) won the doubles point with victories on Courts 1 and 3.

The Cardinals took a 2-0 lead as Tiffany Huber defeated senior Jane Fennelly 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 4 slot. The Irish (6-1, 2-0 ACC) tied the match, however, with the next two decisions. Closs upended Rodriguez 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 5 spot, while senior Monica Robinson remained undefeated with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Aleksandra Mally at the No. 1 position.

Sophomore Rachel Chong put the Irish ahead with a 7-6(2), 6-3 win over Olivia Boesing at No. 6. Miller clinched the win for Notre Dame with a 7-5, 7-5 win over Mariana Humberg on Court 2. Rounding out the scoring was freshman Zoe Spence, who improved to 7-0 on the season with a 6-7(8), 6-4, 11-9 win over Abbie Pahz.

Up Next

The Irish will begin a five-match homestand this week when they welcome Purdue for a midweek matchup at 5 p.m. ET Wednesday at the Eck Tennis Pavilion.
