EVANSTON, Ill. — University of Notre Dame women’s tennis head coach Jay Louderback could have hardly asked for a better result Saturday as his team settles into its fall competition slate. His young Fighting Irish squad posted another day of winning tennis at Northwestern’s Wildcat Invitational, going 7-1 in singles and 3-1 in doubles at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center.

In singles, senior Allison Miller, junior Rachel Chong and freshmen Cameron Corse and Ally Bojczuk all remained perfect on the season. Miller defeated Michigan State’s Sara Kuutila in straight sets in the Blue Flight; Chong upended Utah’s Victoria Robertson in a tight 7-6(4), 7-5 decision in the Yellow Flight; Corse beat Atlantic Coast Conference foe Ariana Rahmanparast of Florida State in two sets in the Black Flight; and Bojczuk downed Marquette’s Milica Novakovic in three sets in the Orange Flight.

Freshmen Caroline Dunleavy and Evangeline Shannon recorded their first collegiate singles victories, with Dunleavy downing Pittsburgh’s Gabriela Rezende in three sets in the Red Flight and Shannon besting Lewis’ Oana Carmen Trus in straight stanzas in the Green Flight. Sophomore Hayden Siegfried also was victorious against Michigan State’s Julia Fenn in three sets in round robin play.

In doubles, senior Brooke Broda saw her first action of the year with Miller, and the pair were winners over Illinois-Chicago’s Bianca Zuzu and Amelia Guevremont, 6-1. In the same Maroon Flight, Corse and Spence defeated FSU’s Nandini Das and Rahmanparast, 6-1. In the Garnet Flight, Shannon and Chong combined to defeat Catherine Orfanos and Nathalie Joanlanne, 7-5.

The Wildcat Invitational will conclude play on Sunday with one round each of singles and doubles, beginning at 10 a.m. ET.
