Irish Volleyball Spring 2020 Slate Set

Irish in action four times

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The Notre Dame volleyball team will be in action four times this March and April in preparation for the 2020 campaign.

“We are looking forward to the upcoming spring,” said head coach Mike Johnson. “This team is in a daily pursuit of growth towards the end of becoming the very best that we are capable.  I am excited for the work ahead.”

The Irish return to action on Saturday, March 28 with matches against Western Michigan and Michigan in Kalamazoo. Notre Dame then meets Illinois on Saturday, April 4. That contest is slated to be held at Mother McAuley High School in Chicago, the home of sophomore outside hitter Charley Niego and freshman setter Nancy Kane. 

The Irish will take part in a tournament at Ball Sports Academy in Angola, Indiana, on Saturday April 18 before closing the spring slate with a matchup against Valparaiso in Chicago on Saturday, April 25. 

Notre Dame is coming off of a 2019 campaign in which it earned its second NCAA Tournament appearance in three seasons. The Irish are set two return four All-ACC honorees in 2020, including First Team selections Charley Niego and Zoe Nunez and Second Team selections Sydney Bent and Caroline Meuth. Niego and Nunez were also named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-East Coast Region Team.
