Irish To Take On Northwestern And Wisconsin

Nov. 15, 2007

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The 22nd-ranked Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving team will travel to Evanston, Ill., to take on both Northwestern and 16th-ranked Wisconsin in a two-day meet. The competition, hosted by the Wildcats at Norris Pool, will start Friday evening at 5 p.m. (CT) and finishes on Saturday with two sessions of swimming, one at 10 a.m. and the other at 5 p.m.

During the competition, the Irish will compete against both the Wildcats and the Badgers, hoping to improve their record on the season. Currently Notre Dame sits with a record of 1-3 after losing in a close dual-meet to Pittsburgh, 150-148, last Friday. In it, the Irish were disqualified in three of five relay events, hurting the chances of a Notre Dame victory despite strong swimming by the Irish in the individual events.

This will be the first meeting between Notre Dame and Wisconsin and the eighth time the Irish have met with the Wildcats. Notre Dame currently has a losing all-time record against Northwestern, 3-4. This will be head coach Carrie Nixon’s first meeting with either team.
