Sept. 28, 2012

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Notre Dame men’s lacrosse team will hold an open practice/scrimmage on Sunday in Crown Point, Ind. Fans are encouraged to attend the free event, which will take place from 3:30-5:30 p.m. (CT) at the Crown Point Sportsplex.

The Crown Point Sportsplex is located at 1313 E. North Street. Concessions will be available. Click here for more information.

Sunday’s practice/scrimmage will continue the mission of the Fighting Irish program to enhance the growth of the sport in the state of Indiana. Notre Dame held a similar event last year in Carmel, Ind. Lacrosse is growing fast in Indiana and Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis will serve as a quarterfinal site for the 2013 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship.

“This is part of an ongoing effort for us to have practices and scrimmages around the state to help the game grow,” says Notre Dame head coach Kevin Corrigan. “There are still a lot of areas in the state that haven’t seen high-level lacrosse and we hope that we can help encourage the growth of the sport in Indiana.”

The Fighting Irish posted a 13-3 record in 2012 and advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Championship. Notre Dame won the BIG EAST regular-season title with a perfect 6-0 league mark.
