July 6, 2009

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Notre Dame women’s basketball team will debut its “Spirit of Giving” summer outreach program on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. (ET), when the Irish head to South Bend’s Martin Luther King Recreation Center to take part in Camp Soldiers, a youth basketball camp for children in grades 2-8. The MLK Center and Camp Soldiers are directed by Maurice Scott and the Center is located at 1522 W. Linden in South Bend.

Wednesday’s appearance by the Notre Dame women’s basketball team is the first of at least two special events this summer involving the Fighting Irish and the Martin Luther King Center. On Aug. 14, season tickets for the 2009-10 Notre Dame women’s basketball campaign will go on sale, and for that one day only, fans wishing to purchase season ticket packages for the first time may do so at the MLK Center from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (ET), in addition to the regular on-campus sale location at the Gate 1 ticket windows on the second floor of the Joyce Center.

The Notre Dame women’s basketball “Spirit of Giving” program is a series of community outreach events that the Irish players, coaches and support staff will participate in throughout the summer of 2009 at various locations across Michiana. A full listing of these events will be announced in the coming days, with the public invited to attend, take photos and receive autographs from members of the 2009-10 Fighting Irish women’s basketball team.
