Irish Take Friday Match with Louisville

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team cruised to a 5-2 victory over the Louisville Cardinals Friday night at the Eck Tennis Pavilion. The 22nd ranked Fighting Irish improve to 13-7 overall and are now 4-5 in ACC action.

The doubles point saw the Irish take No. 3 with Carrie Beckman and Bojana Pozder earning a 6-3 win. Page Freeman and Maria Olivia Castedo secured the point with a 7-5 win at No. 1 over Andrea Di Palma and Rhea Verma, 7-5.

Singles play saw Freeman and Pozder take the top two flights via injury retirement. Nibi Ghosh and Rylie Hanford secured the win with straight-set victoryes at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. Hanford finished first at a 6-2, 6-3 win over Maria Campos, and Ghosh added a 7-5, 6-3 win over Cici Xin.
