NOTRE DAME, Ind. – For the second straight week, the Atlantic Coast Conference has recognized the University of Notre Dame fencing program with Fencer of the Week honors, with the Irish sweeping the male and female categories.

Sophomore foilist Virgile Collineau (Aix-en-Provence, France) has been named the ACC Male Fencer of the Week, while freshman sabreuse Tara Hassett (Portland, Oregon) was honored as this week’s ACC Female Fencer of the Week.

Both provided standout performances at the Duke Duals over the weekend. Collineau helped the No. 2 men to a 4-1 record, posting a 14-1 mark over five bouts. Notre Dame defeated two ACC foes in No. 9 Duke and North Carolina, with Collineau going undefeated against each.

Hassett went 13-2 over the weekend as the No. 2 Irish women remained undefeated on the season. She helped Notre Dame defeated No. 9 Penn State and No. 10 Temple, as well as conference rivals Duke and North Carolina.

Collineau and Hassett are Notre Dame’s second and third ACC Fencers of the Week this season. Last week, sophomore sabreuse Francesca Russo took the honor on the women’s side.
