Irish Strong On Day 2 At Harvard's Chowdah Fest

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The University of Notre Dame men’s tennis team wrapped up another excellent day of competition Saturday on the second day of Chowdah Fest at the Beren Tennis Center at Harvard University.

The Irish boasted a 9-2 record in singles against players from Illinois, Texas A&M and Harvard, while going 5-5 in doubles matches on the day.

Junior Drew Dawson, sophomore Alex Lebedev and freshmen Johnathan Small and Guillermo Cabrera improved to 2-0 in singles matches on the weekend, while sophomore Nathan Griffin has gone 3-0 in doubles splitting time between two partners. Lebedev, Dawson and senior Josh Hagar are all 2-1 in doubles matches.

The Irish will wrap up their opening weekend on Sunday with matches beginning at 9 a.m. ET.

Joanne Norell, athletics communications assistant director at the University of Notre Dame, has been part of the Fighting Irish athletics communications team since 2014 and coordinates communications efforts for the Notre Dame women’s soccer, men’s tennis, women’s tennis and fencing programs. Norell is a 2011 graduate of Purdue University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communication, and earned her master’s degree in sports industry management from Georgetown University in 2013.
