NOTRE DAME, Indiana — The Notre Dame Men’s Tennis team kicked off a four-match homestand on Sunday when they played host to the Boston College Eagles, winning in sweeping fashion, 7-0.
The Irish came out strong, finding quick victories at the one and two doubles spots, each pair winning by a score of 6-2.
With the doubles point clinched, the Irish carried their momentum into singles play, recording straight-set wins on five of six singles courts. Richard Ciamarra notched the first win for the team, and Axel Nefve clinched the match with his win soon after at two singles.
In between those two, Brandon Ancona and Jean-Marc Malkowski earned their way to 6-0, 6-1, and 6-2, 6-1 victories, respectively. Tristan McCormick fought back in his match to take the third super set tiebreaker 10-4 and claim victory after splitting the first two sets, 6-3, 4-6.
With the win, the Irish move to 7-6 overall and 2-2 in conference play. The Irish next take on the Duke Blue Devils at Eck Tennis Pavilion on Friday, March 5, at 3:30 p.m.
