NOTRE DAME,Ind. — Head coach Jeff Jackson and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish hockey program have announced the signing of seven players to National Letters of Intent during the early-signing period, with the group consisting of five forwards and two defensemen.

The signees include Nate Clurman, Cam Burke, Jesse Lansdell, Nicky Leivermann, Jack MacNab, Graham Slaggert and Matt Steeves.

Nate Clurman | Defenseman | Boulder, Colorado

  • Selected in the sixth round (161st overall) by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, who also selected current Notre Dame forward Cam Morrison in the second round of that draft.
  • Clurman currently plays for the Culver Military Academy Prep team.
  • With Culver in 2015-16, he scored nine goals and added 34 assists for 43 points in 48 games.
  • Played for Culver’s U16 team from 2013-15.

Cam Burke | Forward | Boxborough, Massachusetts

  • Playing the 2016-17 season for the Bloomington Thunder (USHL), where he has skated in 15 games and recorded two goals and added four assists.
  • Burke is the brother of current Notre Dame freshman forward Cal Burke.
  • Spent last season with the Noble & Greenough School as well as with the Boston Jr. Bruins.
  • Between the two teams in 2015-16, he tallied 52 points on 25 goals and 27 assists in just 41 combined games.
  • Played with the Boston Jr. Bruins organization from 2012-16.

Jesse Lansdell | Forward | Surrey, British Columbia

  • Currently playing with the Vernon Vipers (BCHL) after being traded from the Chilliwack Chiefs (BCHL).
  • Has skated in 11 games so far with Vernon, scoring one goal and adding four assists.
  • Scored a goal and added four assists for five points in nine games to start the season with the Chiefs.
  • In 2015-16, played in 55 games while scoring 15 goals and adding 29 assists for 44 points.
  • Played for the Yale Hockey Academy Prep team in 2014-15.
  • Played for British Columbia in the Western Canada Challenge Cup, winning the silver medal in 2013-14.

Nicky Leivermann | Defenseman | Eden Prairie, Minnesota

  • Currently skating for Team Northwest before the start of Eden Prairie’s 2016-17 season.
  • He has played in 19 games this season for Team Northwest, scoring five goals and adding 11 assists for 16 points.
  • Played in 50 games for Eden Prairie High School from 2014-16, scoring 16 goals to go with 35 assists for 51 total points.
  • A C-rated skater on the NHL Central Scouting Preliminary List for the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

Jack MacNab | Forward | Indianapolis, Indiana

  • Playing with fellow signee Nate Clurman for the Culver Military Academy Prep team.
  • In 2015-16, MacNab scored 34 goals to go with 36 assists for 70 points in 49 games, averaging 1.49 points per game.
  • Played for Culver’s U16 team from 2013-15.

Graham Slaggert | Forward | South Bend, Indiana

  • Has skated in 20 games for the United States National U18 Team this season, scoring one goal and adding seven assists for eight points.
  • Played the 2015-16 season with the USNTDP U17 team, recording four goals and four assists for eight points in 40 games.
  • Skated in five games for the U.S. U17 team in the World U-17 Hockey Challenge.
  • Played with the Chicago Mission program from 2012-15.
  • A C-rated skater on the NHL Central Scouting Preliminary List for the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
  • Is the son of current Notre Dame Associate Coach Andy Slaggert and will become part of the fifth father-son tandem to play at Notre Dame.

Matt Steeves | Forward | Bedford, N.H.

  • Playing the 2016-17 season with the Muskegon Lumberjacks (USHL), where he has skated in 15 games, scoring seven goals and adding two assists for nine points.
  • Played in 58 games for the Sioux City Musketeers (USHL) in 2015-16, contributing 12 goals and adding three assists for 15 points.
  • Played for the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs program from 2012-15.

The seven signees join Matt Helickson and Michael Graham, who signed with the Irish last season. Hellickson is playing the 2016-17 season with the Sioux City Musketeers (USHL), while Graham is with the Fargo Force (USHL).

Dan Colleran, associate athletics communications director at the University of Notre Dame, has been a part of Fighting Irish Media since August 2015 and coordinates all media and publicity efforts surrounding the Notre Dame hockey and golf programs. A native of Walpole, Massachusetts, Colleran spent the previous three years working with the men’s hockey and soccer programs at Providence College.
