Irish Set To Host Oakland

Oct. 22, 2009

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Notre Dame men’s swimming and diving team will host Oakland at the Rolfs Aquatic Center on Friday (Oct. 23). The dual meet starts at 6:00 p.m. (ET) with live stats available at UND.com.

“We’re excited to begin the dual meet season as we’ll be racing five times over the course of these next four weeks,” Irish head coach Tim Welsh said. “Oakland is traditionally a well-coached and well-prepared team. They scored more swimming points than we did at the Dennis Stark Relays, so we’re looking for a great meet Friday evening.”

The Irish opened the season Oct. 9 with the Dennis Stark Relays, placing second with 162 points behind first-place Michigan.

In 2008-09, the Irish dropped their dual meet at Oakland by a 161.5-137.5 margin. Notre Dame is 11-6 all-time against the Golden Grizzlies.
